The Beyazit II mosque has been built between 1484 and 1488 bij Sultan Beyazit II, with the money left after his Moldau War. It is situated at the river Tunça. The architect Hayreddin based the ground plan on that of the Yeşil Mosque in Bursa. The building has a square prayer room with a dome on top and adjacent rooms for Q’uaran study, as well a courtyard, and is representative for the early Ottoman mosque architecture. The mosque is at the centre of a magnificent külliye. To the right is a medical centre a psychiatric centre and a medical training centre (now an interesting museum of medicine), I have put those pictures in a separate gallery. To the left are a bakery, a kitchen for feeding the poor and some buildings for trade.
I keep returning to this wonderful complex, and always seem to run into the same shepherd, near the same bridge. I put some pictures in a proper order, some need rearranging.
