Thank you to former Miamian Dave Kleylein (William Jennings Bryan Elementary, North Miami Junior High, North Miami High, and Norland High Class of 1962) for contributing this image.

I attended this air show and about the only thing I can remember is the young ladies dressed up in Arabian Nights veils and outfits symbolizing Opa-locka's theme. The airport had already been deeded to Dade County by the federal government, except for the Coast Guard property, after the Navy and Marine Corps closed their air stations there.

Thank you Guest of 25-OCT-2008 and Mark Lincoln for the correction in the aircraft type. Somehow I didn't see the comment from 8 years ago until Mark Lincoln commented - sorry for the delay in the correction.

Yes, a headless pusher. The June Bug (Aerodrome #3) had an elevator in front of the wing as well as having the lower wing bowed up at the tips while the upper wing's tips were bowed down.

It's definitely a Curtiss, but not a June Bug! It's a "Curtiss Headless Pusher".

Thank you for identifying the aircraft for us. In addition to the city of Opa-locka, Glenn Curtiss also developed Miami Springs and co-developed Hialeah with James Bright.

This picture is of the replica of Glenn Curtis's June Bug which was used in air shows all over the country second decade of the century. Curtiss was defendant in a law suit by the Wright Brothers for patent imfringement. Curtiss parkway in Miami Springs is named after Glenn Curtis who was a land developer in Miami and founded Opalocka.
