1921 - a large group of visitors at Hialeah's Triangle Park on Palm Avenue and County Road (later Okeechobee Road)

Hialeah, Florida

This image is a William A. Fishbaugh photograph donated to the Florida State Archives. I cropped and enhanced it for website display.

They must have been there on a real estate promotion where salesmen tried to peddle home lots in the town because they surely weren't there for the jungle-like foliage.

Rumor is they sold a million dollars of RE in one day at this place. Start of the land boom that went bust in 1926 after the Great Hurricane. 1921 same year they build the Miami Kennel Club at the site that became Hialeah Park 4 years later. The dogs and the Horses ran at the same Park on seprate tracks till 1926. Hialeah Park was renovated 1930.

Thanks!
