2007 - aerial view of Miami east of the airport and the Orange Bowl
Miami, Florida
Unfortunately a cloud is shading the Orange Bowl, just like the cloud that caused the University of Miami to make a decision to move to the Dolphin Stadium starting in 2008.
I well remember the first time Hialeah High played Miami High in the Orange Bowl. I was in the T-Bred band. What a great experience for us! Then I got to go to the UM games as a student, as a supporter of the Band of the Hour. Then as a band director at NMBHS I took the band to Dolphin games to perform the halftime shows.
Some of my best memories come from the 60s and 70s at the Orange Bowl.
So long, dear old gal.

Miss the old lady - we could have used the magic last weekend against FSU. There was no better place to be on a fall Saturday afternoon with a nice breeze coming off the river through the open end zone. However, I don't miss the unknown yellow substance that dripped from the upper deck in the 4th quarter.

Us old Florida folks are surely gonna miss the Orange Bowl, some fond memories of my High School days and Edison /Miami High football.... I go back to the time that Florida Field was adjoining the OB just too the south. when the Miami Tourists Played there. With the pitching of Labe Dean and the Famous Shortstop Barney Bridges.
