Estela, the restaurant you are thinking of did have a ship sculpture or something on top. It was the Chesapeake Restaurant originally and they had excellent seafood. After many years of operating as an independent restaurant, New England Oyster House took them over but kept Chesapeake in the name, presumably to keep the loyal customers coming in for meals. As I recall, the quality went down and they eventually closed down, probably around the same time the rest of the restaurants in the chain ceased operating.

New England Oyster House? Wow! I remember that place which stood right off NW 36th St and NW So River Drive near the Miami Jai-Alai and its sign was a rocking ship or something like that? Am I right?

During the summer of 1967 & 1968 I was a Lifeguard / Pool Boy part time at the CASA LU ... the owners were 2 brothers .... my boss was LOU ARGONOPOLIS .. they were from New Jersey .... Great memories and a very clean nice motel!

I believe this is still a motel, fronting on Okeechobee Road. Probably rents by the hour. The strip club, I believe is about a block or two west of Home Depot, a couple of blocks north of Okeechobee Road.

What a wonderful memory! My father used to stop in for Cuban Coffee at the window before jumping on 112 to go visit our grandmother. My siblings and I still joke about the CasaLu to this day.

It is not a strip club, it is now a run down motel called the "Fantasy Motel"

One of my first jobs as a teenager was working here as the 'handyman' doing all sorts of odd jobs from counting laundry with the maids to all sorts of minor repairs. The managers and operators at the time were a Mr. and Mrs. Greene and they were quite a pair.

that, if you can believe it, is now a strip joint and a business district storage, ship storage etc....

I remember this motel on Okeechobee Rd . On the other side under the 112 expressway is the Miami Jai-Lai and the New england oyster house. Also does anyone out there remember the Hialeah Motel?
