1931 - Passengers boarding Pan American Airways System Sikorsky S-40 NC-81V "Caribbean Clipper" at Dinner Key

Dinner Key, Miami, Florida

The state archives description: "The Sikorsky S-40 was placed in operation by Pan American World Airways in 1931. The S-40s were the first four engine aircraft to be regularly used in commercial air service."

Note the ground transportation by Red Top Taxi Company with what looks like a converted horse trailer (Curtiss Aerocar) to bring passengers to the aircraft.

other sizes: small medium original auto
