1918 - Navy Curtiss AB-3 flying boats with Curtiss N-9's or R-9's in the background assigned to Naval Air Station Pensacola
Naval Air Station Pensacola
One source of this photo states that this was at Naval Air Station Miami but a more reputable source states that it was Naval Air Station Pensacola. Thank you to Mark Lincoln for identifying the aircraft types and the location as being Pensacola.
The two flying boats are Curtiss AB-3s. The floatplanes in the background are Curtiss N-9s or R-9s. The photo is at NAS Pensacola while the tide is out. Note the orientation of the hanger. The aircraft are very typical of what might be seen at any NAS in 1917-18.
