Daren: sorry for the delay but I just noticed your comment for the first time, thanks to Mike Wills posting here yesterday. I don't believe Pizza Palace turned into a Pizza Inn.

That was a Mr. Donut shop (photos of it on this site courtesy of Bill Avery) and it was part of a franchise chain. The franchise owner was a nice guy who sold me a dozen freshly baked donuts for 25 cents every morning when I had a Miami Herald route in the 1963-1965 time frame and folded papers across the street at the Thom McAn. I would eat two and take the rest home for my family who gave them out to neighbors.

Out in front of the P.S. bowling lane building was a donut shop - don't remember if it was a chain or just a mom & pop place but loved to go in there for donuts & a Coke. & as you might expect, you could always fine a Hialeah cop car outside.

Did that Pizza Palace turn into a Pizza Inn?

I went to Meadowlane as well. Class of '73. I lived a block south of Pizza Palace on W 9th Ct. We didn't have much money to bowl at Palm Springs Lanes, but we use to walk though to get some A/C. I remember the Zayre storefront always smelled of urine. And there were murals of Eskimos above the frozen food section in Publx. The kind where their eyes seemed to follow you. Gave me nightmares. Texaco use give us STP stickers to stick on our bikes. Take care!

Wow I remember going to Meadowlane Elementary just south of there on 8th ave. and eating those great fries at Palm Springs Lanes, whoo, fond memories.
