1920's From a postcard

1920's - yachts at the "downtown" yacht anchorage

Downtown Miami, Florida

Two scenarios exist for the location:

1. Along the north bank of the Miami River from the mouth of the river along the Royal Palm Hotel

or

2. Along the western edge of Watson Island

I'm leaning toward the north bank of the Miami River because of the "downtown" in the description on the card.

Frank, thank you for your comments. I'm leaning toward the location you suggested because of the "downtown" in the card's description. Watson Island was not downtown though it was across from it.

Don,
I believe that the "Downtown Yacht Anchorage" shown on the postcard is actually the seawall along the north bank of the Miami River. It extended east from in front of the Royal Palm Hotel, along the north bank of the river to the mouth of the river.

Robert, I think you're right - it sure looks like Watson Island to me now that you mention it. I'll change the description.

Looks like it might be Watson Island. I've seen a similar view before.
