Pittsburgh, PA

As I was getting ready for work this AM, I was thinking that I had not heard from my buddy Steve in a couple of weeks. As a city firefighter, I figured he had been very busy with the chaos from all the major flooding we had. I also thought how disappointing it was that I never spent a day with him and his unit seeking a photo for this project as we had discussed.

On my way to work, sirens wailed and fire trucks passed me on Craig Street. Once they went by I continued down the street. As I sat at a light I had a perfect view of a transformer exploding off to my right about 50 yards away. It fell into a bunch of dumpsters, which then ignited. I would have been remiss to miss this photo op!

While not super sharp, I still liked this photo better than the others I took.

What a great shot of these men and the danger that they face; and they're moving to it! Very powerful.

I think this might be my favorite picture. The picture feels intense, its hard to explain from a non-creative eye, I just love it.
