Worthington, PA

This is not a “photo-shopped” image even though it looks like some sort of glow was applied to the corn stalk. The sun was setting and as I drove up a gravel road, looking for something to shoot I noticed the sun was causing a prism-like flare in the clouds. I have seen this a few times this fall. Just by chance, the stalk and the flare seemed to fit.

I was going to use this photo of columns that I took, but I figured the shot of the flare was just too odd to pass up.

Just 2 days to go until I am done!!

Note: If you are accessing this from my Fall 2004 gallery, this is also part of my Photo/Day/Year project.

What you saw is called a Parhelia or "sundog" I see them often, and agree...very cool!

Very unusual indeed, and beautiful! You composed this wonderfully. And I agree; the columns are quite nice, but this really makes today 'Today'.
