Dr. John Rawlins holds a Regal Moth, Citheronia regalis that was found locally. Both a male and female had been found mating and placed in a large cardboard box. The intent is to have the female lay her eggs inside the box so that they may hatch in a safe place. These moths are becoming extinct here in PA.

I seem to have one of these on my stoop and it seems to be dying, I want to save it to be able find out more about it. How do you save a moth so it won't decay? Please send e-mail to ellisjoan943@gmail.com, I live in central Florida and there are many birds around to take it.

We shall have to ask what the caterpillars eat, once the eggs have hatched. As we don't know what the host plant is. It will be exciting to see the six developmental stages of the instars. Please let us know Dr. Rawlins!
