Thanks for the comments. I did indeed forget the (*) - thanks for mentioning it!
I played around with this shot quite a bit - I do understand about the blown highlights, but I was actually pleased with the results. I agree that, proportionally, the chain shouldn't have been so much in the center, but I thought it looked well touching the faded wood in the background.

:-) I've sometimes forgotten to put the # when I post & have to go back in & put it there. So I hope this bloke just forgot because he has more comments then most:-)

I sort of pay attention ;)

Nugar, do you really pay attention to the *? I just kind of assume that everyone wants to get comments. LOL

LOL! Actually, here's one example of BHLs that I don't like. I actually started to type a comment here that began something like: "Before Rod says something about the highlights...". But I clicked cancel since there isn't a * in the title :)

I think you should have turned the lamp off before taking the shot because we now have a chain of blown highlights (pure white areas with no detail) If the highlights are from available light in the room then re-shoot later in the day experimenting with varying light sources. The gold colour chain can look really good in a shot with the right lighting. Good attempt mate. Nugar will really like this shot:-)

What a wonderful shot! Although I would move the foreground object a bit to the right for two reasons. One, obeying to the rule of thirds would add "tension" here, and two, I think the shift in background color (which I like) is better seperated from the chain.
Just my 2 cents ...
