The Big Melt.

It's been about 50º F the last two days, supposedly back to 20s tonight (with 50 mph winds!). This
is in the middle of our land. It's basically a wetland, as you can see, but is now about 10 times
its usual flow. In several (yeah four or five!) months it will be full of Joe Pye Weed,
Hairy Willow Herb, Bull Rush, Turtlehead, Cardinal Flower, Vervain, and a host of other native plants.

Great capture of the mood. Lived in Buffalo as a kid, so I know about the long Winter!V!

Lovely scene - the shape of the clouds and the sky made me think there was a mountain in the distance!!

We don't usually get much snow but when we did in December it was amazing how quickly it melted once
the sun came out and the temperature got a bit warmer. Looks like a great place for wildlife.

Your weather sounds pretty much like ours. Abnormally warm for Ottawa in February, with lots of rain last night, but back to the deep freeze tomorrow. You are fortunate to have this wonderful area to explore and photograph. I bet there are a host of insects in all those plants you mentioned. Very nice shot of this mild Feb. day. V

Can't wait to see a spring time shot of this area. The wetlands are so important to the ecosystem. Nice shot and interesting commentary. You're very fortunate.
