The red-bellied woodpecker is always a joy to have at the feeder. They tolerate most birds,
but they really seem to dislike mourning doves, getting low and charging them across the feeding tray.
Are they relatively common in your area? Up here, they are very rare. We may get reports of one or perhaps two a year or every couple of years. In Southern Ontario, they are much more common. They are beautiful woodpeckers, as is this photo.
