'Summers Place', or at least spring's - the smallholding we had and rebuilt the house

view map

When we first saw a similar view, the house had been burnt out and the land neglected for several years. That, and a bank manager enjoying playing kind uncle, did bring it within our price range. The blossom was even more spectacular when the cherry and damson coincided. The name refers back to William Summers who originally held it in the early C17th, when the parish encouraged people to squat and build on the common land left over after enclosure.
