March 24 2005:
Royal Holloway Towers

Went over to the Royal Holloway College in Virginia Water this afternoon. It is the most beautiful building, being Grade 1 listed.

The main college building, known as the Founder's, was designed by William Henry Crossland and inspired by the Chateau of Chambord in the Loire Valley, and it was opened by Queen Victoria in 1886.

The college was unusual in that it only admitted women, something that was not changed until 1965, following a specific Act of Parliament.

Here’s a profile view of part of the main building

A very imposing building with a nice deep blue backdrop sky. Lots of archetecture detil and design. A excellent picture...wouldn't like to guess how much the heating bill would be on a place tlike this :-) lol

Well done a great find!

Wonderful shot. I really like this sort of lighting with the low sun allowing deep blue skies.
