Odiham

Hampshire view map

I didn't know about this castle until recently - it was used by King John and others in the 13th and 14th century but fell derelict later the following century. It is possible that King John rode from here to sign the Magna Carta in 1215.

It is right by the more modern Basingstoke Canal, so I could have accessed this by barge from very near my present and childhood homes!

As it is called Odiham Castle, I'm counting it for Odiham although it is nearer North Warnborough.
