14July05 Purple Loosestrife 3234

Westerly, RI

Photo a Day, Day 107...I found this Purple Loosestrife growing in the rock wall of the culvert while walking around trying to photograph more of the whales today. I thought it was an interesting growing situation...

I did alot more walking and driving around to photograph the whales today than I had planned considering I've found several of the whales damaged and would like to complete them before a: they get too damaged or b: are made inaccessable. A couple have been removed so the artists can repair them from children whose parents don't read the signs saying they are not to be climbed on, sat on etc... Currently, I have 18 of the 50 whales photographed... I've reworked the collage from yesterday a bit and will be putting a special gallery up for them once I start getting a few more done...

This is so pretty. It's amazing how it grows there and if I plant it it doesn't do a thing. Very interesting textures and the drainage pipe and the little fence make it picturesque.

They are a pretty addition to the wonderful textures and colours in the wall, and I like the sparkles in the water ... nice! :)

I love these wildflowers they just take hold of whatever and give it all they got!
Nice find, looks like they might be well hidden from most people.

A lovely plant in an ugly setting! ;--)
