The Old Gaol

The building in the middle of the picture is Abingdon Gaol, built by prisoners of the Napoleonic
Wars in 1811. It has had various uses, most recently as a leisure centre, but is now empty.
It is planned to be redeveloped into housing, restaurants and shops.
In the foreground, behind the narrow boat, is Nag's Head Island.
