Kings Canyon in the Watarrka National Park is about 330km from Alice Springs and we decided to venture there before making our way onto Uluru.
We took the shorter route which allowed us to travel dirt roads part of the way. Kings Canyon has 270m high walls. There are stunning walks
suitable for fitness fanatics which we are not (especially in the heat) but we got to enjoy a gentle stroll and beautiful sundown with an almost
full moon rising behind! That was magical.
In the nearby main campground I saw dingoes at night - and heard chilling howls of a pack of them in the wee hours.
