Kakadu

Kakadu, Australia's largest national park, is located in the Top End of the Northern Territory
about 2-3 hours drive south east of Darwin. Our base for 2 nights was Lakeview Park at Jabiru,
a small town which is near to the park border not far from Arnhem land. Later in the week
we returned to Kakadu and Lake Jabiru for the Mahbilil Festival.

Having a rented 2wd vehicle meant we were restricted to bitumen and better roads but this still
enabled us to visit the attractions we wanted to in Kakadu: Bowali visitors centre, Yellow Waters,
Ubirr Rock, Noarlangie Rock, Anbangbang Billabong and Mamukala wetlands. With a 4wd and/or more
time on your hands there are gorges, waterfalls, rockholes and bush camp areas to explore.

Trivia: much of the film "Crocodile Dundee" (Paul Hogan) was shot in the Kakadu National Park.
