Drab

Darlingtom memorail Hospital

I was born in 1972, so I have to ask all those responsible for 60's achitecture. Why?
I suppose my kids will be looking at the 90's architectue and asking me the same question.

At least its bricks and not just grey cement. Good choice of mono!
Doug Cruden06-Jul-2009 21:37
lol@Stewart!! That's because there was no colour telly, so the 60s were just monochromatic!!! I like the vertical elements Kevin, they make for a strong composition...this is a simple shot, but no less good for that! V

Like the lines!!! But it does lack a little creativity!
Stewart Mitchell05-Jul-2009 21:29
Why is it images from the sixties seem to work better in B&W.....maybe I have a selective memory of that decade!! This is a fine image though :)

Great b/w shot of what the 60s and 70s architecture did to parts of this country.
Mairéad05-Jul-2009 20:58
Yes, that sums up most of 60s architecture pretty well.
Maaike Huizer05-Jul-2009 20:36
Strong lines. B&W works.

I think Phillip nailed it .... cheap.
JW05-Jul-2009 19:13
I was going to say what Philip said. In the sixties this replaced blackened work out Victorian buildings. But no one would disagree with your sentiment!

I agree about the architecture being ugly and dispiriting in general. Well taken photo though.

I suppose it looked 'clean' and 'functional' in its day... or maybe it was just cheap to do? lol.
