We journeyed to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks in late September and early October 2008 with Jess Lee, our professional photographer guide, to photograph the fall colors and the elk rut. Both were spectacular! While there, we also got other great wildlife imaging opportunities. Yellowstone is certainly a different place in the fall as compared with our winter visit in February, but both times provide many great imaging opportunities for thermal features and wildlife. Grand Teton provided more dramatic landscapes with the towering peaks visible from just about any angle, and the aspen and cottonwood were in their full yellow glory! Bull elk with their female harems were plentiful in both parks, but wolves were seen only in Yellowstone, and moose and black bear were seen only in Grand Teton. We consider both places to be among Nature's finest cathedrals!
