THE WHITE EAGLE CONSERVATION PROJECT
The White Eagle property in western Marion between Route 6 and I-195 comprises 248 acres of one of the largest undeveloped land blocks draining into Aucoot Cove. The White Eagle land supports a rich diversity of habitats including upland pine, mixed hardwood forest, shrub and wooded swamp, freshwater marsh and cranberry bogs. Several rare and threatened species are also found within these habitats including the Water-Willow Stem Borer (a bright colored moth), the Eastern Box Turtle and the Spotted Turtle.
