In 1965 Leonard decided he needed to repent to Jesus for his sins
(swearing was his main sin).

In 1985 he landed in Niland for an intended week-long stay
but ended up staying on and building a small 8ft high mountain
to proclaim God's love.

The artisan (born in 1931) spends his days working on the mountain
but uses his bicycle as his means of getting around town
and bathes in the nearby hot springs.
