Minataur Rocket Launch

Sandgates, MD

Imagine my surprise this morning, I'd dropped off my wife at the airport and
was heading home and the sunset building before me was looking to be specatcular.
So instead of just going home I took a side detour over to the river and ran out
onto one of the local empty docks to set up. I'd just by chance put both my camera
and tripod into the car hopeing sunrise might be nice. As I was setting up my first shot
I noticed what appeared to be an aircraft about to make a contrail that I wasn't happy
about, but the speed and brightness of the contrail led me to think it was something else
so several shots later and a local Goggle search I found out that I had a great sequence
of the first orbital rocket launch from Wallops Island VA in the last 11 years.

Here is an shot just seconds before:

Very cool. The event is fantastic enough, but the sunset and your capture makes this one very special.

The intense colour of the sky makes this shot for me and the well timed bonus of the launch is pure icing on the cake.

As many people have said, this is quite a nice shot. Not only were you fortunate to capture the rocket launch, but the rest of the photo is stellar as well. This is a photo to be proud of.
