28th - Consequential

Leckhampton Hill, Glos. view map

Having been abhorred by the Red Bull can, our walk was saved right at the end.

We saw this field of rather distraught-looking sunflowers as we neared our finish - right on cue, the sun (which had been hiding all the time we were out) burst through, the grey clouds parted, and these once proud blooms were illuminated one last time. I suppose what we have here is the consequence of the turn of the seasons - after a few nights of air frost and cold temperatures, the leaves are beginning to fade and wither, and the brilliant yellows and greens of only a few weeks ago are looking decidedly peely-wally.

But the contrast with the pale blue of the October skies sort of makes up for the seedy look (sorry!) I think. BTW, this is straight out of the camera with just a bit of sharpening and Levels to lighten up the seed head ...I just love this lens :o))

I like non manipulated captures, love your story around the sunflower

A lovely way to end a walk and very appropriate for consequential. You do get a lot of mileage out of a sunflower though :)

Nice consequential shot, nice dead flowers to send to someone. Love the sky, nice angle and maybe some of those seeds will produce some nice ones next year. Or at least the birds and wild life can enjoy them.

So much consequences you show, but hasn´t it been a great summer?

The text which accompanies the photo is just and allows to look at this flower tired as a result of too much sun.... well seen !

Very nice shot Doug with this lighting and angle. You're really putting your 28mmm through the paces with impressive results.
