The Rift Valley

50-80 million years ago two ancient techtonic plates collided, one subducted below another while sliding along the boundary. It pushed and twisted the lands to the east such that it formed a most unusual fault, a tear in the Earth itself. Along that fault are a number of unusual geologic formations.
