suse 16-Jul-2005 01:16
This is always the kind of picture that makes me think what is his story. How did he end up like this? The backs of people behind kind of answers that.
Norbert Greim 04-Jul-2005 21:51
great shot !!!
Rob Rowles 30-Jun-2005 18:43
great shot.. what a face..
stuart 22-Jun-2005 06:45
i reckon its shit and an easy shot and a little boring and no life and not very good subject matter with rubbish composition
Neil 30-Apr-2005 02:54
Old age or poverty?
Perhaps both.
Neil Parker 18-Apr-2005 19:51
This is so powerful, looks a little like steptoe & son's Albert (A classic british comedy act) - anyway this is a truly emotional image..
Paul Teixeira 26-Mar-2005 11:21
Powerfull portrait indeed!

Best regards,
Paul Teixeira

This is amazing ! Love your work. <3
Ira Morenberg 06-Mar-2005 13:11
Such a weathered look. His sole posessions appear to be his coat and cigarettes and if he had to give up on, it would be the coat.
joanteno 05-Mar-2005 13:05
Very powerful!
Joe Powell 01-Mar-2005 03:43

This beggar sure isn't as adorable as my little "man best friend" beggar, kidding here.
Guitarlin 14-Feb-2005 15:11
Great Portrait!!!
Carmen 11-Feb-2005 20:05
Wrenching. The hunched, supplicating pose is hard to look at.
Sheena Woodhead 10-Feb-2005 22:27

Susanne 08-Feb-2005 21:05
This image is very touching. Aside from what it portrays, I really like the effect you created. I am not sure how to describe this, but it almost appears as if the beggar seems to be in a three D way. Really neat.
Ian Clowes 08-Feb-2005 14:38
Wish I could shoot these - this is a powerful image.
Chris Sofopoulos 08-Feb-2005 12:14

Rafael Ollero 08-Feb-2005 00:36
Oh!!!
wonderful photo of a human behavior...evolution society¿?
pity.
jude 08-Feb-2005 00:22
Perfect the way the lens distorts his hand larger to emphasis what he is doing.. the begging. His face is so craggy and time-worn.. Such a sadness there
Roe P 07-Feb-2005 23:43
awwww this is so sad...amazing image..
Mark Rutter 07-Feb-2005 22:48
Amazing portrait. Dramatically different to the shot from the rear if this is the same man.
Vinh Luu 07-Feb-2005 20:25
incredible shot Antonis! there's a lot of powerful elements in this photo. the lines and expression on his face tell a story. the low, up-close and personal perspective puts the viewer in a "tense" position, bringing you into his world.

shot at the 17mm range, you must have been kneeling right next to him! did he mind you photographing him? street shooting is such a mystery to me, i wish i could shoot like this. it has such power in conveying messages and telling stories!
Christina Craft 07-Feb-2005 19:12
This is now my favorite image in your gallery (and you have many beautiful images). I really like the expression and drama you captured in this moment. It's a very touching portrait adn tribute to this human being. It's very well shot - but more important, it tells a very important story.
Cliff 07-Feb-2005 19:06
This is an amazing photo. I like the perspective from his level. Street beggars are often so sympathetic but I see this fellow can afford his pack of smokes :o)
Argishti Khachik 07-Feb-2005 19:06
WOW! what a great shot, Antonis!
Cheers
Sunny 07-Feb-2005 18:28

brilliant photo.

Superb shot, Antonis
Jerry Justianto 07-Feb-2005 15:54
The wrinkles told many stories.
abel guerrero 07-Feb-2005 14:10
That's really good, Antonis. It demands that you look at it. The wide angle distortion really helps, as does the legs of the passers-by, who are obviously paying no attention.
Nick Clarke 07-Feb-2005 13:55
Fabulous documentry / street portrait.

Did you ask his permission, or just take it?
