Kas was known as Habesos or Habesa in Lycian times.

 This maker's hand-painted pottery is exhibited in The British Museum.   The large bowl was $50, but I had to watch my budget.

 This rooftop adds one for very-young'uns at one end. There was also a large pool downstairs, outside.   $19/night for a 2-bed double room. Quite amazing.   Room rates varied considerably along the trip.

Abdullah also works at Ephesus in the winter and at an upscale Ottoman-style dining place in Kalkan.

Road roamers		 Residents are away after summer ends, heading for Turkey's coast, and younger folk have left for the cities' easier lifestyle.   In earlier days Kalkan folks fled here to escape summer mosquitos carrying diseases.

That $19 for that room was 4 years ago, but relatively speaking Turkey is still more economical than traditional Europe. That coastline is gorgeous and we noticed a lot of Europeans were buying retirement property there with great views.

Your photos brought back many pleasant memories of a trip we did last October. The coastline is really stunning....the only thing we missed is the $19 double room:-)

Carla, thank you for the Cok guzel :-). I loved Kalkan too! You're lucky you have gone there often. Holland is closer to Turkey than we are.
