Ponte Vecchio, Duomo, Baptistery, the River Arno, the Uffizi (later), Accademia and Michelangelo's David (in 1-b), Museum of San Marco {monastery} (in 1-b)

The Baptistery's East doors took Lorenzo Ghiberti 27 years to sculpt.  Michelangelo dubbed them "The Gates of Paradise." Ghiberti also did the North Doors (20 yrs).
The doors outside are copies, for protection of the originals (now inside the nearby Opera del Duomo) from further weather damage.
  Ghiberti worked on these doors, in a building that was our excellent, inexpensive Florence lodging for 3 nights.
 I'll add a separate gallery for interesting details from all the panels eventually.
