Lantern Floating Ceremony @ Ala Moana Beach

Now in it's 7th year of being celebrated in Oahu on Memorial Day, the Toro Nagashi, or Lantern Floating Ceremony,
is held at Ala Moana Beach park in front of 22,000+ buddhist & non-buddhist holiday observants.
Approximately a month prior, those of us practicing the Shinnyo-en school of buddhism write up prayers
of consolation for the ancestors of family, friends, acquaintances or even strangers (Dubya?) that are
to float along with the lanterns. Non-buddhists are welcome to do so on the day of the Ceremony.

For more information about the ceremony, visit the Shinnyo-en Hawaii website at http://www.lanternfloatinghawaii.com/home.html
