This is a gallery dedicated to the Beautiful Portuguese guitar, which is the one used in the traditional Portuguese song of Fado. It's a 12 string guitar with a very peculiar and enchanting sound, that is technically very challenging and also has in my opinion an amazing shape.
The photos are dark, not just because I like them in that way, but because I think it matches with the spirit of "Fado" that always seems to come straight from the heart of those who play it and sing it... Some say that this is the kind of music that best describes the soul of the Portuguese and I guess that even those who don't like it, carry within themselves this "moody gene", this longing and passionate way of feeling for something or someone whom we miss... For that we have a specific word that can't really be translated: "Saudade"....


The guitar player in the photos is my friend João Braga, who kindly accepted the invitation to pose for this small series.
