My mom suggested I show photos of burn victims to my 9 year old son, who tonight, for the first time, was playing with fire and decided to watch some paper burn, so he lit his homework on fire. It caught much quicker than he expected and soon was too hot to handle. He fortunately thought fast and dropped it in the kitchen sink, where it did go out, but not before filling the whole house with that "burned paper smell". Everything turned out okay, but it was definitely a memorable night. I have no doubt after his conversation with his Mamaw, and me, he will not be doing any such thing again. But these photos are more powerful than anything she or I could have said to him. I appreciate your willingness to share your pain and healing journey, so that others may learn from your experience. Peace be with you.
