This photo was taken from an angle that better shows the depth of the wound. It also shows the swelling in the left ankle and foot which has also been a problem. Please pray that the swelling goes away.

If the doctor determines that the wound can not be covered with a skin graft, the next procedure is called a free-flap. A free-flap surgery is a much more invasive procedure. Muscle and tissue will be removed from an area of my body and placed into the wound. Vascular surgery is involved, so it is a very delicate procedure. The operation is 7 to 8 hours and I would have to be hospitalized for approx. two weeks to make sure there are no complications with the flap.

Obviously we don't want to go this route so pray for good news on Monday, June 12.
