The Scotsman who got the tank rounds poked into his ribs didn't look that bad, although he must have been in serious pain. This guy looked the worst of anybody in the hospital. So when Rifkind got to the man's bed he was visibly touched. But when the guy explained what happened, the British officers accompanying Rifkind turned away in disgust. The soldier told the sad tale of how he was filling his Zippo lighter while smoking....and it all exploded. He was pretty badly burned, and did look bad.
