Delta Park is a large parcel of land that was the community of Vanport until a flood came along in 1948. A broken dike let in the swollen Columbia River and Vanport was washed away, creating a wonderful park for the City of Portland. Who remembers the spooky wooden water towers? Wish I had some photos of those. The streets of Vanport were our race course until they were turned into Portland International Raceway.
