re: Mr Audi: The stumps of the posts are still there, embedded in concrete. They were to deter enemy aircraft from landing on the beach in WWII. Tho' why they'd want to start an invasion from Scalpsie is anyone's guess!

Zak, on Scalpsie beach there used to be upright wooden stakes protruding from the sand (might still be there today?). Have you seen this? Do you know what purpose they served?
