Mt. Bold bushfire

Summer in the Adelaide Hills - Australia

A bushfire that started around 6.30 p.m. January 10th (2007) and spread through 2,000 hectares
of scrub, vines, forest and is nearly under control as I took this shot (from a very safe distance). Earlier we could actually see the flames from our front gate, and whole trees burst into flame in one puff! The day the fire began the temperature was 40-Celsius and strong gale force winds soon had it scorching everything in its path, including cattle, sheep, fencing, outhouses and at least one house & possibly 3 homes.

I wish we could send our weather down to you. You certainly need it more than we do.

The people in the country and hills must be living on the edge at the moment. Glad this one didn't come any close to you.
