Thursday's challenge

Totally Informal Transglobal Challenge is: "Breaking the (Compositional) Rules"

I probably break the "rules" all the time - the only ones I know are those I learnt at art school, so here's my 'take' on today's challenge, do you think I'm on the
right track? To my eye, its unbalanced & I skewed the pots to help emphasize the fault...

Refer to the FORUM for other contributors, see http://forum.pbase.com/viewtopic.php?p=144034#144034

That background is my rose garden - the pots are sitting on the railing of our side balcony.

Great shot. It might be unbalanced, but colors and lines compensate it greatly.

Looks like a nicely composed Panorama ;-) great DOF !

Great shot. I really like the background.
Guest 12-Oct-2006 23:29
I like this image, I don't think it's that unbalanced and I really like the DOF, GMV!
Barbara Heide12-Oct-2006 22:47
I like it!

What were you making - rosehip soup, now that's breaking the rules.

It's a very strange effect - but I like it lots! Chris

I am not sure you broke any rules. It looks quite artsy to me.

I think it would have been in keeping had the handles been in front of that green instead of a dark area. Nice idea.

I beg your pardon, I never promised you a Rose garden!!!!!! Skewed up another shot huh?
Jannik Lindquist12-Oct-2006 19:47
Great fun :-)
John Beck12-Oct-2006 19:36
I think you 'broke' something, maybe even the rules. Looks good too me.
James Ross12-Oct-2006 18:31
The broken rules work great for this. :-)
Guest 12-Oct-2006 17:51
I really like this!

I like the composition of this! Love the background too!

It does tend to teeter a bit, but it only adds a tension. Wonderful color.

Nice color and form.

Never leave a hot pot on a countertop that will scorch.
Mom told me that rule.
: )
Eckhart Derschmidt12-Oct-2006 13:10
The pots may me off-centre, but as the black shadow in the background is almost symmetric, this does not spoil the total composition but rather make it stronger. Good shot!
Faye White12-Oct-2006 12:14
very nice!
caveman_lee12-Oct-2006 11:54
I like the background color and bokeh. Nice shot.

I like this shot... I never learned any rules of composition and I see nothing wrong here.

Superb composition :)))
Guest 12-Oct-2006 10:44
I think it's a cool shot - nice abstract with the blurred background
Zak12-Oct-2006 10:18
I like the image too heheh
laine8212-Oct-2006 10:13
That's risky business leaving them balance that way...definately out of bounds, Von. Well done.
Jola Dziubinska12-Oct-2006 09:33
I like it too, especially the green bg with nice DOF.
Sheila12-Oct-2006 08:20
Is it 'wrong' because the subject is too far over to the left?
I actually quite like the image :-)
