Gnarled

I have quite a lot of trees to choose from and took a heap of
photos of gnarled bark, and in the end chose this 30 year old
cedar with remnant canes from an ivy which used to grow up
the trunk and create a carpet at the feet of the tree until we
had a SNAKE! The ivy was smartly removed so we could see
the earth below the tree and know what was hiding there...

Love the ivy but good you don't have it if it was inviting to snakes. Great gnarly subject!

Now that is gnarled with a vengeance.
Some of us have never seen a snake outside of a glass case.
