Meyer lemon - 12

I love the flavour of lemon, and my favourite desert is lemon meringue tart
but it has to be a good one, have tasted some awful ones from time to time.
Anyone got a favourite lemon recipe? Dick pickles them for some of the
Middle Eastern dishes he prepares and my Grandmother used to make "Lemon Snow"
and I loved that as a child - anyone know that one? Probably has other names.
This photo is of a lemon still hanging in the tree. The tree is laden with
ripe, ripening, green and lemon blossoms, and its like that most of the year!

I miss my California Meyer Lemon tree. The only way to grow these here is to buy a miniature tree and move it indoors during the winter. Nice shot!

I love lemon meringue tart too, it's my favorite tart! They are best in France where I enjoy them in every patisserie I pass by... I mean, nearly every patisserie:-))
And I agree totally with Mairead: no lemon trees here :-(

To me the idea of being able to walk out to your garden and pick a lemon is about as
romantic as it gets. Cooking apples just don't inspire me the same way.

A beautiful image of this ripe lemon. When I was last in Italy I had a digestif called limoncello, and it is good to add to a lemon mousse!

Had a lousy apple harvest this year, but we couldn't grow citrus fruits up here any way. Envy you your climate. That's a lovely shot.

very nice shot of the ripe lemon on the tree.
our dear Gran used to do a delicious lemon drizzle cake. The wife thinks it was a sponge with grated lemon rind in it, and then the juice mixed into a hot water/melted sugar mixture and poured over the top to cool and go crunchy.

We have lemons from our tree year round. Here's a recipe for a drink called Paloma = Dove
1 can or bottle Squirt Grapefruit Soda
Juice from one Lemon
2 shots Tequila
Serve in a glass with ice. Salud!

It would be great to have your own lemon tree! Lemons are rather pricey here but there is no substitute for fresh lemon juice or zest.

Thanks Laine for that potato recipe. Sounds really good and I will give it a try!

Unfortunately we don´t have lemon trees here, we need to go to supermarkets, but I know from traveling to Greece often, you find there totally different ones, much juicier, more flavor, more yellow, like yours!

I love Greek Lemon Roasted Potatoes...my son had a girlfriend & this was her grandmother's specialty

1kg (2 pounds) waxy potatoes, peeled and cut into 6 or 8 wedges
1/3 Cup Olive oil
The juice of 1 or 2 lemons (or more to taste)
3-4 Cloves garlic, crushed
Dried oregano, to taste
A hint of paprika (optional)
Salt, to taste
Pepper, to taste

Method:
1. Preheat the oven to 200° C (400° F).
2. In an ovenproof dish, add all ingredients and stir well.
3. Bake the potatoes for 1 to 1 1/4 hours and stir every now and then during cooking to coat with the herby oil/sauce.
4. Serve when the potatoes are cooked through.

Remarks:
You can add more lemon or olive oil. It all depends you, therefore I recommend you to taste the sauce first and then, correct the seasonings if needed.
The potatoes are ready when cooked through (test with a knife), golden and crispy.

A desert I love is Lemon Whip

1 tbsp Lemon juice
600 ml Lemon jelly packet
400 ml Water
Sugar
How to make Lemon Whip:
Dissolve the jelly in 140 ml water.
Stir it in the remaining water and lemon juice.
Add sugar if needed.
When it becomes cool, whisk until a thick froth is formed.
When there is a trail formation in the froth, put it quickly into a glass dish.

Lemon whip is ready
