By removing the context (stage, etc.), Xin, you turn a performance into a street photograph. It demonstrates the power of context (or in this case, the lack of context) in photographic expression. The background here is so softly focused that we don't realize it is a performance. But I did sense theatrical emotions here, and that is why I felt they looked like actors.

And you are right, Phil. They are actually performing on a outdoor stage in 42th street, Time Square. My whole album of the body expression was actually derived from there. Using time-square towers and dazzling banners as the background, their dances and performance were , in themselves, provocative acts.
These figures look like cardboard cutouts from a movie poster. They seem more like actors than real people. You ask us to consider the line between reality and fantasy here, Xin. Their responses trigger the imagination of the viewer -- we wonder what they may be looking at so intensely. It is a fascinating image -- one of the most provocative you have made.
