In the mountainous Shōkawa Valley (庄川) region along the borders of Gifu and Toyama prefectures, these two areas are famous for their thatched-roof, 'gasshō-zukuri' ("hands-in-prayer") farmhouses

Hello
I visited Shirakawa-go and Hida-Takayama in last month (8/30-9/5) too.
Very beautiful countries.
