Built somewhere around the beginning of the 16th century (believed to be in the Kyōroku period of 1528-1532), Iwasaki Castle saw its highest glory during the Battle of Komaki and Nagakute in 1584. Held by the forces of Niwa Ujishige (brother of Hideyoshi's ally Niwa Ujitsugu), it fell to Ikeda Tsuneoki under an extension of Tokugawa Ieyasu's larger campaign. The castle was later abandoned. The rather bland modern construction dates from 1987 and features a mildly interesting museum on the area.
