American Robin Turdus Migratorius

NY, Setauket

... since you asked - yes the little guy is ok.
He (or she?) left the nest a bit early, even for
Robin standards. They generally leave the nest
before they are able to fly and hop around on the
ground for a few hours/days until they can reach
low branches by their own. During that time the
parents keep feeding the little guys. Then again -
he really is a bit young, but was lucky enough
to be raised in an enclosed area, free of the
otherwise omnipresent cats that nearly kill the whole
suburban Robin offspring every year. It's a shame
that people cannot keep their furry predator friends
indoors...

Great shot Wolfgang! Poor thing does look a little shell-shocked, but glad to read it's in a protected area! Sandy
