"What Americans can do to not be fearful is remember how we got to where
we are," said Jasser, noting that the U.S. "fought theocracy" and now
Muslims must do that too. A devout Muslim, he believes there should be a separation of
"mosque and state." He opposes political Islam, known as Islamism, which advocates for
a government structure (the Islamic State) based upon specific Muslim doctrines.

"Terrorism is a symptom" of this belief system, Jasser told about 150 people at the club event. "We must treat the disease."
