As Jim Stark and Tom Taylor discuss the situation with John Parker (in cockpit), a firefighter comes in to make sure everything is okay. Note the oil on the main gear, above the wing, and covering the bottom of Blue Thunder. That is some of the 3 gallons that poured out of the missing gearbox plug, causing smoke in the cockpit.
