100 year old crossing of the Hunter River.
Morpeth was once a strategic port on the Hunter serving a vast hinterland, shipping goods to Sydney and beyond. With the coming of the railways and other regional changes the port gradually fell into disuse. Much of Morpeth's history is preserved and it is now a tourist centre.
